What I have worked on
Consulting work, which is why no client names appear here. What the systems had to do, and what came out of it, can still be described.
Customs processing system
AutomotiveArchitecture consulting within a customs programme. Designing technical interfaces, documenting them and supporting their implementation. The larger part of the work is problem analysis across departmental boundaries, before anything gets designed at all.
WLTP compliance platform
AutomotiveConsumption, range and emissions, across manufacturers. Migration from on-premise to the AWS cloud, staged and using blue/green deployment so operations kept running throughout. Infrastructure as code with CloudFormation, CDK and TypeScript. Architecture documentation following arc42 with DocToolChain, because binding guidelines are only worth something if people can find them.
Variant complexity management software
AutomotiveA modular system architecture with the accompanying technical documentation, plus an AWS environment that scales with actual demand rather than with the estimate.
Customs processing system
AutomotiveSystem architecture and integration into an existing application landscape. The infrastructure-as-code solution was designed for reuse from the outset.
Digitalisation of written correspondence
Energy and wholesaleEnd-to-end responsibility: process consulting, technology, viability and requirements analysis, application, technology and data architecture, through to implementation with IBM Datacap and FileNet P8.
Intelligent contract analysis
Document processingProof of concept for the automated extraction of more than 100 fields from arbitrary international contract documents. Requirements management, architecture and design documentation, development across internal and external teams.
Global administration platform
Online gamingAdministration software covering every title of a provider with 450 million users in 75 countries. The decisive levers were in the database: design and performance tuning of complex MySQL architectures, query optimisation and ElasticSearch indexing. Plus web APIs in Java and PHP (REST, JSON-RPC, XML-RPC) and budget responsibility for the undertaking.
Locatool
LocalisationA frontend prototype for the in-house translation tool. Before the first line of code, eight PHP and JavaScript frameworks were evaluated and the choice had to be justified. The same question comes up again today with AI tooling.
Web platforms for educational institutions
EducationWebsites and bespoke CMS modules for international universities, alongside administration of email infrastructure and databases. First client contact, while studying.
